PANP18 - Day 2 | A Practical Guide to Navigating Available Biologic Medications for the Treatment of Psoriasis

Mark Lebwohl, MD discussed the revolution of the treatment of psoriasis over the past few decades, specifically focusing on the inception and further development of biologic therapy. Besides treating skin lesions associated with the disease, many of these medications also target the extracutaneous effects caused by the systemic inflammation associated with psoriasis and related diseases such as psoriatic arthritis and enthesitis.

With so many new medications available, it can be difficult to master the ins-and-outs of each individual treatment option. To this end, Dr. Lebwohl, a world-renowned expert on the subject, provided a comprehensive summary of approved biologics, emphasizing their modifying effects on other disease processes.

This excellent review included a grid listing the effects of each agent on psoriasis and other disease entities, all an in effort to help the astute clinician choose the correct biologic for the correct patient. Dr. Lebwohl concluded his presentation by encouraging all to become involved in the Psoriasis Registry powered by Corrona©.
