PANP18 - Day 2 | An Expert Review of Advances in Practical Dermatopharmacology

James Del Rosso, DO once again took to the stage, this time to provide the audience with an expert review of newly available therapeutic options to treat dermatologic conditions. He began by echoing Dr. Rigel’s lecture on skin cancer by reviewing data detailing the utility of polypodium leucotomos extract as an adjunctive photoprotection tool.

He then reviewed the use of omalizumab for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticarial, a truly challenging disease entity. This was followed by a discussion of the use of oral serlopitant for the management of prurigo nodularis. As always, Dr. Del Rosso provided clinical trial data to bolster discussion of his own experience.

He then shifted to an in-depth discussion of therapeutic options available for the treatment of actinic keratosis, followed by an overview of combination topical therapy of halobetasol/tazarotene for psoriasis. He concluded with a discussion of the use of hydrogen peroxide 40% solution, a brand-new treatment option for cosmetically bothersome seborrheic keratoses.
